Tips 1: Don not gives access to your Neighbor to access your computer?



If you don't want your users to have access to the network neighborhood:

· Run "Registry Editor" (RegEdit.exe)

· Select the following registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\

CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

· Add parameter "NoNetHood" and set its value to "1"

· Restart Windows



Tips 2: Who's connected to you?



If you're running any TCP/IP services (such as WWW service, FTP service, POP3/SMTP services, or even just NetBIOS over TCP/IP) on your computer, you may want to find out who's connected to your computer and from where at a given time. This information is easy to obtain using NETSTAT command.

* Go to the "DOS Prompt" or "Command Prompt"
* Type
NETSTAT <number of seconds>


For example, if you want to redisplay the TCP/IP connections every 10

Seconds, type:

NETSTAT 10

* Press ENTER. ( On Servers Only or Windows 95 )



Tips 3: When keyboard lights aren't enough then hear the Sound …



Sure your keyboard has small lights (LEDs) to indicate if you’re CAPS, NUM and SCROLL lock keys are on or off. When you're busy typing you might accidentally hit one of these locks which might force you to retype.

Here's how to make your computer beep whenever any of the lock keys change state:

* Go to the Control Panel
* Double click Accessibility Options
* Turn on the ToggleKeys checkbox
* Click OK



Tips 4: When keyboard lights aren't enough then hear the Sound …



Sometimes, a user is typing some important text and mistakenly his CAPS lock and all the remaining text types in CAPS and he go to retype that text. There are two tips to change the text in normal view or to hear the sound of hitting CAPS, NUM or SCROLL Locks.

Tip I: Select all text CAPS written text and press SHIFT and F3 from function keys the text will come in normal mode.

Tip II: Go into Control Panel and then Accessibility Options and here select Use Toggle keys. (Now you are able to listen sound of hit on CAPS, NUM or SCROLL Locks)



Tip 5: Make Use Of Your Windows Key…



The Windows logo key, located in the bottom row of most computer keyboards is a little-used treasure. Don't' ignore it. It is the shortcut anchor for the following commands:

Windows: Display the Start menu
Windows + D: Minimize or restore all windows
Windows + E: Display Windows Explorer
Windows + F: Display Search for files
Windows + Ctrl + F: Display Search for computer
Windows + F1: Display Help and Support Center
Windows + R: Display Run dialog box
Windows + break: Display System Properties dialog box
Windows + shift + M: Undo minimize all windows
Windows + L: Lock the workstation
Windows + U: Open Utility Manager
Windows + Q: Quick switching of users (Power toys only)
Windows + Q: Hold Windows Key, then tap Q to scroll thru the different users on your PC
